Community Involvement

MWA sponsors activities that benefit the community and encourage the creative growth of Maryland's citizens. We are always open to new ideas and we welcome volunteers who wish to launch or help with community efforts. Current projects include:

• Reading While We Wait, a program that provides reading materials for youths waiting to receive treatment in pediatric oncology units.
• Christine Blythe Myers Literacy Fund, in memory of our long-time treasurer, a founding member of MWA. Chris, who passed away on March 11, 1999, after battling cancer, was a fervent advocate of children's literacy initiatives.

Contributions go to support Reading While We Wait and other literacy programs.
